Website for the Research Symposium

The CU Center for COMBAT Research Symposium required a mobile responsive website that could provide registration forms and live updates to symposium guests at this 2-day event.

Description: A mobile-responsive website designed for a two-day, invitation-only research symposium to provide guests with essential event information, registration forms, and live updates.

My Role: I was responsible for the full lifecycle of the website. This included drafting the initial design in Adobe XD, developing the site on WordPress and Elementor, and managing content updates before, during, and after the event. I also provided post-event support and trained the client on how to manage the site.

Skills Used: Web Design, Mobile-First Design, Adobe XD, WordPress, Elementor, Content Management, Client Training, Brand Adherence.

Outcome: The website successfully served as a central hub for the event, providing a mobile-responsive platform for attendees to access a homepage, event schedule, speaker profiles, and registration forms with integrated online payment. The final website was delivered on time and on budget, with a complete handover and training provided to the client.

The CU Center for COMBAT Research Symposium is a 2-day, in-person, invitation-only working meeting with smaller work groups that combine academic, government, and industry leaders and learners in military health research and innovation.

This project included several stages:

Phase 1: Initial meeting with client and website design drafted in Adobe XD for review.

Phase 2: Website development was done on WordPress & Elementor, and client approval was met prior to the event.

Phase 3: Managing the website before, during, and after the event. Final hand-off to client, including training on WordPress admin privileges.

Notable parts of the project scope:

  • Essential website elements such as homepage, about page, event schedule, speaker profiles, registration links, contact information, and social media links.
  • Ensured the website is mobile-responsive.
  • Offered ongoing support for website maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Regularly updated website content with fresh information, such as event agenda changes, speaker updates, and registration deadlines.
  • Implemented a process for reviewing and approving content changes before publishing.
  • Integrated online payment within the website’s registration form.
  • Followed the university’s brand guidelines and collaborated with the client’s design team.
  • Designed a professional and informative event agenda handout for both digital and print.
